About

What is the aim of Healthier North Walsham

There are lots of people within local communities that struggle to find out what is happening locally and what support is available to them.  This support may be a local social group or help with a long term health condition. It could be social economic or the person could be new to the area and just wants to get involved and meet new people.  We want to be able to provide this information in a simple, user friendly, searchable database that will connect the person to the group they are looking for quickly and easily. Our main goal is to connect communities and enable everyone to access the help they need.

What area does Healthier North Walsham cover

Currently our directory covers national groups which you can access regardless of your location, and local groups which are predominantly in North Walsham however can extend as far as Norwich and other close towns such as Aylsham and Sheringham. The hope is that given time and the chance to expand and grow, we will cover the whole North Norfolk area as defined by NHS Norfolk & Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group health.

Who is behind Healthier North Walsham

Healthier North Walsham is a project that started at Birchwood Medical Practice. It was created to try to put Birchwood Medical Practice more at the heart of the community as although we may not be able to look after everyone as a GP practice, we could be seen as the place to go for help and information and to be part of connecting the community.

The team is currently three strong with Amy Yaxley doing the hard work created by ideas from Wayne Catchpole (Practice Manager) & Lucy Shires (District Councillor Happisburgh Ward, North Norfolk District Council Mental Health Champion)
